Charity was doing day work with the rest of the male hands on the biggest Hereford ranch in the country when she was 9 years old. Her dad married a trickrider and trickroper when she was 11 years old and they lived and worked on a ranch outside of Capitan, New Mexico. They worked cattle pretty much year round, wind-snow-sleet-rain, it’s like being a postman. Put on small Wild West Shows for the local bible camp and entertained up and coming western musicians and artists in their home on a regular basis.
After high school Charity got away from all of it for a while and QUICKLY realized she had made a grievous mistake and went back to doing what she knew. Both Charity and her son perform as U Spur Rodeo Entertainment, he trickrides and she has an Indian act. They perform at various church functions, rodeos, and help out other entertainer friends. Charity’s husband, calf/steer ropers & bulldogs, and she breaks and trains ranch, roping, and trickriding horses. After too many injuries in too short a time span, she decided to tone down the act and get into the promotions end of the arena. Charity enjoys covering the history of trickriding and rodeo itself, promoting new and upcoming entertainers, working on her own presentation when she’s not hurt, and educating Joe Q. Horse-buyer on the ins and outs of horse ownership, safety, and events.
